I missed the very beginning of vision day, but joined up for the breakaway discussions. I am totally excited about what the future of Uptown Martinsville has in store. I went to the recreation discussion group and suggested a fountain for kids to play in and also a yoga park. Both of which were met with a lot of enthusiasm. They also talked about having a walking trail that has the mileage marked right in the shopping district, so we can have some urban trails. The existing uptown spur trail is also going to be extended to 4 1/2 miles long. I went to the visual/performing arts discussion group and there was talk of a community theatre being started uptown. At the business/restaurant discussion group there were rumors of a pizza parlor, ice cream parlor, fine dining establishment, micro brewery, and my favorite HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGE RIDES! Someone also brought up the need for nice upscale apartments uptown. I also heard that Studio 107 is moving into the old Hooker Outlet building, so that will become more visible. There was also talk about the businesses uptown having longer hours at night and on the weekends. I am so excited about our future; I can hardly contain myself :)
